Edwardsville family flees house fire

An Edwardsville family of four was able to escape from a fire in its home early Friday after being awoken by a smoke detector.

According to fire department reports, a family that lives in a ranch-style house on Partridge Place heard smoke detectors go off at about 4:30 a.m.

Smoke was coming from the basement, so the door to the stairway was closed and the fire department was called.
