Sunny skies, warmer temperatures for the work week

After an unseasonably cool weekend for the metro-east, temperatures will be on the rise through the work week.

The high will be 79 Monday under sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service. That’s 11 degrees higher than the peak temperature of 68 Saturday. The average high temperature for Sept. 14 in the St. Louis metropolitan area is 81.

Winds will blow from the south at up to 14 mph.

The low will be 56 Monday night when skies will be mostly clear.

On Tuesday, skies will be sunny with a high of 81 and a southeast wind of up to 9 mph.

The temperature will drop to 58 overnight Tuesday with mostly clear skies.

Skies will again be sunny Wednesday with a high of 83 and winds from the south at up to 11 mph.

It will be mostly clear Wednesday night with a low of 58.

The high will reach 86 under mostly sunny skies Thursday. The next significant chance for rain will be Friday when there is a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms and a high of 83 predicted.
