Coroner: Man killed while cutting tree was 46-year-old Waterloo resident
Monroe County Coroner Vicki Koerber on Tuesday released the identity of a Waterloo man who died while cutting down a tree.
Conrad Pete, 46, died Monday while cutting down trees near Valmeyer.
According to police reports, at about 2 p.m. two men were cutting down trees along B Road when a tree that they were felling landed on Pete.
Koerber said the results of an autopsy performed early Tuesday showed Pete died instantly of blunt-force trauma to his chest and abdomen.
Rescue crews rushed to the scene but were not able to save Pete, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Koerber did not release any other details of the incident.
Funeral arrangements were pending Tuesday at Creason Funeral Home of Millstadt.
