Job fair scheduled Thursday in Collinsville

Seventy-five employers are scheduled to be at the Job Plus 2015 Regional Job Fair scheduled for Thursday at the Gateway Center.

This is the 25th year the regional job fair has been held. It draws anywhere between 800 and 1,500 job seekers, said David Stoecklin, executive director of Madison County Employment and Training.

Employers will be accepting resumes during the job fair. WiFi also is planned to be available for people to fill in online applications. Job seekers are advised to dress professionally and to be prepared for an interview.

Stoecklin added some employers will even make job offers at the fair.

Interpretation services will be available for those who have hearing impairments and those who speak Spanish.

Local hospitals, nursing homes, the State Police, Missouri Highway Patrol, the American Red Cross, Associated Bank, Ameren, East County Transport, Dierbergs, Schnucks, SunCoke Energy, and SCF Lewis and Clark Fleeting and Terminals are among the 75 employers scheduled to have representatives on hand at the job fair.

The job fair is being sponsored by Madison County Employment and Training Development, the St. Clair County Intergovernmental Grants Department, AARP, Illinois Department of Employment Security, Illinois Department of Human Services, Lewis and Clark Community College, Madison County-Bond Workforce Investment Board, the Mid America Workforce Investment Board, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and Southwestern Illinois College.
