Don’t Miss This: Coroner releases ID of man killed while cutting trees

▪  The Monroe County Coroner has released the identity of a man who was killed while cutting down trees near Valmeyer. Conrad Pete died of blunt-force trauma to his chest and abdomen.

▪  An Illinois State Police trooper was found guilty of aggravated assault in condition with his strip-search of a motorist along an East St. Louis street. The trooper, Corey Alberson, was acquitted of a felony charge of aggravated battery.

▪  Head of the class: Two metro-east educators are finalist for the Illinois Teacher of the Year award. Rebecca Merrill, of O’Fallon Township High School, and Valerie Gabriel, of Germantown Hills Elementary School are among 10 finalists for the award, which will be presented Oct. 17.
