Boil order issued for Alton residents

Illinois American Water Company has issued a boil order in Alton.

According to water company leaders, about 500 residents have been affected by a water main break in the area of Fosterberg Road and College Avenue.

It may take until Tuesday for repairs to be made and the all clear to be given to resume normal water usage.

Until them, residents in the area of the break are advised to bring any water used for drinking or cooking to a boil for at least three minutes before using it.
