IDOT: All lanes on Poplar Street Bridge reopened
Metro-east commuters faced delays as they drove back from St. Louis on Wednesday, but work was completed by the afternoon.
Emergency pavement repairs forced road crews to close two eastbound lanes of the Poplar Street Bridge, the main traffic artery across the Mississippi River from St. Louis. It carries traffic from interstates 44, 55 and 64.
Work was completed for the afternoon rush, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Early Wednesday the off ramp to Illinois 3 in Sauget was closed, but later reopened.
Motorists reported holes in pavement on the bridge deck, which required immediate attention.
All lanes of the EB Poplar Street Bridge Complex are open in Illinois. The emergency repairs have been successfully completed. #ILTraffic
