Belleville East student recovering after being hit by SUV
A Belleville East High School student is recovering after he was struck by a small sport utility vehicle as he rode his bicycle home from school Tuesday.
According to East Side Fire Protection District assistant chief Lyn Mueller, the collision happened at about 3:30 p.m.
The student had lacerations on his legs and was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment, but his injuries were considered to be minor, Mueller said.
The collision happened on West Boulevard near East Main Street, according to fire department reports. Mueller said it was unclear what caused the crash.
Neither the student nor the driver’s name were released by authorities. It is unclear if the driver was ticketed in relation to the crash.
