Warm weather, chance of rain to start the work week

Warmer than usual temperatures and a chance of showers are expected early this week.

Later, skies will be sunny but temperatures will drop considerably, according to the National Weather Service.

A 20 percent chance of showers is expected Monday with a high of 82. That’s six degrees warmer than he average high temperature for late September in the St. Louis metropolitan area is 76. The most likely times for rain are before 11 a.m. and then after 3 p.m.

Monday night, the chance of rain remains at 20 percent until about 10 p.m. The low will be 65.

There is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Tuesday when the high will be 80. The chance of wet weather increases to 30 percent Tuesday night when the low will be 55.

Temperatures will be much cooler starting Wednesday when the high will reach only 72. Skies will be mostly sunny with winds of up to 11 mph.

Wednesday night, the low will be 50 under mostly clear skies.
