Area leaders to announce proposal to dissolve Collinsville recreation district

A group of Madison County leaders will gather Thursday morning to announce a push to dissolve the Collinsville Area Recreation District.

The press conference slated for Thursday in front of CARD’s Collinsville headquarters includes several Republicans, including state Rep. Dwight Kay (R-Glen Carbon), Glen Carbon Mayor Rob Jackstadt, Collinsville Township Trustee Chris Guy and former C.A.R.D. board president Andrew Carruthers. Others expected to attend include Democratic Maryville Mayor Larry Gulledge, as well as Glen Carbon trustee Jorja Dickemann and Pontoon Beach Mayor Mike Pagano.

Current board leaders and C.A.R.D. executive director Susan Zaber could not be immediately reached for comment.

The announcement is slated for 11 a.m. Thursday.
