Swansea Police issue alert on vehicle break-ins

The Swansea Police Department on Saturday was warning residents about a series of vehicle break-ins.

Police reported that a number of vehicles have been broken into in the neighborhoods east of North 17th Street to Illinois 161 and Boul Avenue.

Police said the break-ins apparently are happening in the evening hours. Windows of vehicles have been smashed, and items have been removed from the vehicles.

The department asked that residents lock their vehicles and remove valuable items, and call 911 if they see anything suspicious.
