A 48-year-old Highland man has died following a wrong-way crash on Interstate 70 near Highland.
Bond County Coroner Tony Brooks identified the driver as Francis L. Thayer, who was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes.
According to police reports, a Peterbilt tanker truck struck the 2005 Dodge Caravan that Thayer was driving head on at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Interstate 70 was shut down for about five hours Tuesday night as the crash was investigated. It reopened after 1 a.m. Wednesday.
