Unseasonably warm Thursday, then big change to weather

The temperature could reach 80 Thursday in the metro-east.

That’s 10 degrees warmer than the average high for the middle of October in the St. Louis metropolitan area, 70.

Skies will be sunny, according to the National Weather Service. A breeze of up to 8 mph will blow from the west.

Thursday night, the low will drop to 46 under partly cloudy skies.

It will be much cooler from Friday through the weekend.

On Friday, the high will reach only 62 under sunny skies. The low will plummet to 35 Friday night, with patchy frost in the area.

The high will top out at 58 Saturday with patchy frost in the morning. Skies will be sunny.

More patchy frost will return Saturday night when the low will be 35 under mostly clear skies.

On Sunday, skies will be sunny with a high of 61.
