Warmer weather and sunny skies this week

After a cool weekend, warmer weather is on the way for the start of the work week.

The high will push back into the 70s during the beginning of the week and could top 80 by the middle of it, according to the National Weather Service.

It will be sunny Monday with a high of 72 and gusts of wind from the south at up to 25 mph. That’s 15 degrees higher than the peak temperature Saturday, 57, and nine degrees warmer than the Sunday high of 63.

The average high for Oct. 19 in the St. Louis metropolitan area is 68.

The low will drop to 52 Monday night under mostly clear skies.

The warming trend will continue Tuesday when skies will be mostly sunny and the high will be 76.

It will be partly cloudy and 53 Tuesday night.

The high is expected to reach 81 under Sunny skies Wednesday. Overnight, the low will reach 57.
