Don’t Miss This: Charges in Troy crash, Caseyville murder

▪  Charges of drunken driving have been filed against a motorist who allegedly hit a woman whose car broke down along Interstate 55 near Troy. Samantha S. Miller, a popular roller derby skater from Swansea was killed instantly and her three children were injured when Steven L. Willis’ pickup truck allegedly hit her as she stood outside her 1999 Mitsubishi while her children were still inside the car.

▪  Two men were charged with murder in relation to the shooting death of a Caseyville area man who died last week after the door of his mobile home was kicked in during the middle of the night. Terrion D. Stevenson, 20, of Cahokia and Orlando C. Adkins, 21, of Belleville, are accused of shooting Nicholas Hood, 24. The suspects are also part of a group police say committed a home invasion and burglary in Belleville an hour before the murder.

▪  A prison guard who was off work with pay for nearly a year after he said he was injured in a fight between inmates has been awarded a $48,000 workers compensation settlement. Lance Fancher was the subject of a fraud investigation after he was discovered to have participated in a fishing contest while he was on leave.
