Four students arrested at O’Fallon Township High School for fighting

O’Fallon Police confirmed four students at O’Fallon Township High School were arrested Friday morning.

Three female students were arrested at the school’s campus on Smiley Street and charged with disorderly conduct and released to their parents, said Sgt. Michael Mojzis of the O’Fallon Police Department.

O’Fallon District 203 Superintendent Darcy Benway said the fight occurred at 10:30 a.m.

At about the same time, a male student was in an altercation with a male teacher, police said. Mojzis said police are investigating and the male student is in custody but has not yet been charged.

The male student was “non-compliant with safety directives given by several OTHS employees and an O’Fallon police officer,” Benway said in an email.

The name of the students arrested were not released by police, because they are all juveniles.

There were no injuries, police said.

The girls were “mutually engaged in a fight,” Mojzis said, and the school resource officer, Jay Spanley, was involved in that incident when the other incident took place.

O’Fallon Police came to the Smiley campus to assist.
