Ameren recognizes Belleville and Collinsville for energy savings
Belleville and Collinsville on Tuesday received Ameren Illinois’ Most Progressive City award for reducing energy usage and environmental stewardship.
These two municipalities were the only ones in the metro-east to receive the award.
Belleville businesses and residential customers completed 656 energy efficiency projects through Ameren Illinois from June 1, 2014, to May 31, 2015, according to Ameren.
In the same time period, Collinsville businesses and residential customers completed 281 energy efficiency projects.
Ameren estimates that the combined energy saving efforts in the two cities would be comparable to taking 497 cars off the road.
