Pickneyville inmate charged in murder for hire plot
An Illinois Department of Corrections inmate was charged with solicitation of murder for hire and solicitation of murder.
Jon Mettler, 50, is accused of trying to hire someone to murder his ex-wife while he was an inmate at Pickneyville Correctional Center.
The charges were the result of an investigation by the Illinois State Police Division of Internal Investigation.
Mettler is currently serving a 15-year prison sentence for a 2014 residential burglary charge from Menard County.
Mettler is slated to appear in Perry County Circuit Court on Dec. 1.
