The home of the Whopper has opened a new metro-east location in Swansea.

Burger King opened Friday morning off Illinois 159 on an out lot in front of Rural King and near its two main competitors, McDonald’s and Wendy’s.

Advanced Auto Parts leaves East Belleville

Advanced Auto Parts has closed its store on Belleville’s east end. The store at 924 Carlyle Ave. closed on Nov. 11 and has consolidated its inventory with another existing Belleville store at 4213 North Belt West.

New gas station opens in Belleville

Midwest Petroleum Corp. has moved in and Casey’s General Store has moved out at 1291 Frank Scott Parkway in Belleville. The new owners provide gas and operate the existing convenience store but will not make and deliver pizzas as Casey’s did. Instead the pizza prep area will be converted to a deli area. MPC also has four other Belleville gas stations and convenience stores doing business as Phillips 66 or Conoco at 420 Carlyle Ave., 2400 N. Illinois St., 7406 W. Main St. and 1551 Hartman Lane. A fifth is located at 2201 Camp Jackson Road in Cahokia.

New business moves to Maryville

John Eichenlaub, of Barber Murphy Group in Shiloh, said the former Maryville Fun Tyme/Dugout Lounge at 1 Schiber Court has been sold to Mike Antonovoch. Eichenlaub said the buyer plans to move his used car lot from Madison to the Maryville property, where he also plans to establish a seed and feed business. The collective businesses will be known as MGS Sales.

Two Belleville animal hospitals consolidate

And finally, two Belleville animal hospitals have consolidated their services. Adair Gardens Pet Hospital at 1808 North Belt West has moved its personnel and resources down the road to Carey’s Pet Hospital at 312 North Belt West. The move comes as Adair Gardens’ veterinarian Phillip McKinney is taking some time off from the practice to attend to his own health. Clients can find out more my calling 618-233-4188.
