The Illinois Department of Transporation said Tuesday it anticipates reopening the Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge the week of Dec. 21, weather permitting.
The bridge has been closed since July as crews resurfaced the deck, among other repair work.
After the bridge reopens, there may be periodic closures of the bridge during the next several months to complete other items of the project and to remove the contractor’s scaffolding, IDOT said.
Additional closures would be limited to weekends and weekday off-peak traffic hours.
