Police: Victim of shooting in East St. Louis was 48-year-old Belleville man
The victim of a fatal shooting on Saturday afternoon in East St. Louis was a 48-year-old Belleville man, according to police.
The victim was Robin January, whose last known address was in the 100 block of Regency Court in Belleville, according to Illinois State Police.
The shooting happened Saturday afternoon in the 700 block of North 53rd Street in East St. Louis.
The victim died at a local hospital.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting were still under investigation on Monday, according to State Police Master Sgt. Mark Doiron.
“We’re still investigating why it happened and who’s involved,” Doiron said. As of Monday morning, no person of interest had been identified and there had been no arrests, Doiron said.
East St. Louis Police were called to the North 53rd Street residence at 3:57 p.m. Saturday to investigate a report of a shooting. Once there, they located January. He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
