Sunny, windy Tuesday for the metro-east, cooler later in the week
After several days of rain, the sun will finally make an appearance in the metro-east Tuesday.
Skies will be clear during the day with a high of 52 and wind gusts of up to 21 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
A few clouds will move into the area Tuesday night when the low will dip to 32.
It will be partly sunny Wednesday with a high of 43. That’s a few degrees cooler than the average high of 47 for the first days of December in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
Skies will be mostly cloudy Wednesday evening but will gradually clear overnight. The low will be 30.
On Thursday, skies will be sunny with a high of 48. It will be mostly clear overnight with the low dropping to 29.
There is little chance of rain through the weekend, according the forecast, which is expected to allow swollen area rivers to subside.
The Mississippi is in minor flood stage at Chester where it stands at 27.8 feet. It is expected to crest at 29.3 feet on Thursday and then dip beneath the threshold for minor flood stage, 27 feet, by Sunday.
At Grafton, the river was at 18.7 feet Tuesday, just over the limit for minor flood stage, 18 feet.
