St. Clair County Health Department displays AIDS quilts
The St. Clair County Health Department has two AIDS memorial quilts on display to honor people from Southern Illinois who died from AIDS.
According to the health department, the quilts were made in the 1980s and were donated by Bob Vandalia, of Alton, to the Southwestern Illinois HIV Care Connect Program, which is a division of the health department.
Each quilt has 32 panels, with each highlighting a person’s life.
The quilts are scheduled to be on display through Dec. 8 at the health department at 19 Public Square in Belleville. They went on display on Tuesday, World AIDS Day.
