Business Briefing: Local gas prices falling again below $2 a gallon
Local gas prices remained low throughout Thanksgiving and have fallen further in December.
According to online gas price tracker GasBuddy.com, many metro-east gas stations are selling regular unleaded fuel as low as $1.89 a gallon. Across the river, regular unleaded gas is selling as low as $1.68 a gallon.
About two weeks ago, gas hit $1.79 in the metro-east before jumping up 30 cents. Analysts attribute the lower prices to a glut in the supply, falling wholesale oil prices and fewer refineries being shut down for maintenance.
