Don’t Miss This: Alleged Belleville area heroin dealer arrested

▪ A Belleville are man was arrested by the St. Clair County Drug Tactical unit after a months-long investigation. Authorities said when he was captured he was in possession of more than 860 grams of heroin.

Kevin J. Westerfield, 35, of 536 N. 74t St., has been charged with two counts of possession with four felonies related to drug trafficking. He was on probation at the time of his arrest and has been out of prison for less than a year.

▪ In Caseyville, a teenager has been charged with five felonies after allegedly trying to flee from police when they tried to pull him over for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Samuel Mitchell was caught after he crashed his car into a railroad signal and then tried to flee on foot, leaving two injured passengers behind.

▪ The last round up on the Ponderosa?

The last local steakhouse in the Ponderosa chain, which was on Eastport Drive in Collinsville, has shut its doors. The chain formerly had other locations in Belleville, Fairview Heights and Glen Carbon.
