Four cars involved in high-speed crash overnight in Alorton

Rescue workers were busy Monday morning with a four-car crash in Alorton.

According to police reports, the collision occurred just after midnight at the intersection of Illinois 15 and Race Horse Drive.

It is unclear what caused the crash and there was no information immediately available about the extent of the injuries. But damage to some of the vehicles was severe.

A Ford Mustang appeared to have been rear-ended at high speed, with the back half of the car crushed.

A blue Chevrolet Impala sat up against a traffic light island nearby with severe front end damage.

Two other vehicles sat in the intersecion with lesser damage. Chunks of shattered glass, broken plastic and other car parts laid on the street up to 50 yards from the intersection.
