Woman rescued after driving into pond near Millstadt

A woman was rescued from her submerged car late Sunday after it splashed into a Millstadt area pond.

At about 8:30 p.m., the driver, whose name was not released, lost control of her vehicle in the 7000 block of Triple Lakes Road. She drove through a pile of brush and into a pond where her car came to a rest with the roof about a foot and a half below the water line.

An off-duty firefighter who lives in the area was the first person to arrive at the scene.

The driver was taken away by ambulance, but it did not appear that she suffered any serious injuries in the accident.
