Record high temperatures are expected in the metro-east Tuesday.
The high is expected to reach 61 under sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service. That’s two degrees warmer than the all-time high for Dec. 8 in the St. Louis metropolitan area, 59, set in 1970.
The average high for the date is 45.
Skies will become mostly cloudy during the evening when there is a slight chance of rain in the forecast. The low will be 43.
It will be mostly sunny with a high of 58 Wednesday. That’s five degrees cooler than the record of 63 set in 1970.
Skies will be partly cloudy with a low of 42 Wednesday night.
It will be mostly sunny with a high of 65 Thursday. That’s two degrees higher than the record for the date of 63 set in 1971.
Thursday night will be partly cloudy with a low of 43. The average low for this time of year is 29.
