Don’t Miss This: Students and faculty nervous after bomb threat at SIUE
Don’t miss these top stories Tuesday on BND.com:
▪ Terror concerns have reached the metro-east with SIUE students and faculty on edge because of a bomb threat.
A threat was made in a bathroom of a residence hall and claimed a bomb would explode at 3 p.m. Monday.
▪ An off-duty firefighter led rescue efforts when a woman drove her car into a pond off Triple Lakes Road near Millstadt.
The victim’s car was submerged in about six feet of water. But she was freed and left the scene in an ambulance. Authorities said she didn’t appear to have any life-threatening injuries.
▪ A pair of escaped convicts only made it a mile from the boot camp where they were serving their sentences before they were captured about 15 hours later.
Jerrette Reed and Kevin Rivera, both serving drug sentences, fled an Illinois Impact Incarceration bootcamp in Dixon Springs where prisoners usually serve about six month before being sent home. Now they’ll likely be sent to maximum security prison where they’ll serve their entire terms of three and five years, respectively.
