Record high temperatures through the weekend for metro-east
The metro-east’s weather record book is expected to be re-written over the next few days.
The high temperature is expected to reach 69 Friday under mostly sunny skies. according to the National Weather Service.
That’s four degrees warmer than the all-time record of 65 set on Dec. 10, 1971. Winds will gust at up to 17 mph to make it seem a bit cooler.
Thursday night, the low will drop to 45, which is still one degree warmer than the average high temperature for the date in the St. Louis metropolitan area, 44.
Temperatures will still be much warmer than usual Friday. But the chance of rain will move into the area and will remain through the weekend.
Skies will be mostly cloudy Friday with a 20 percent chance of rain and a high of 65. That matches the record high for the date set in 1996.
Friday night, skies will remain mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of rain and a low of 57.
On Saturday, there is a 20 percent chance of rain during the day with a high of 68. That’s three degrees higher than the record for the date of 65 set in 1996.
The likelihood of rain will increase to 70 percent Saturday night with a low of 60.
There is a 90 percent chance of rain Sunday with a high of 64, one degree shy of the record for the date set in 1990.
