Hollywood Heights fire leaves man homeless
A St. Clair County resident is without a home after a failed attempt to put out a house fire himself.
According to fire department reports, the blaze started at about 3:30 a.m.Tuesday at 546 Bethel Road in Hollywood Heights.
The resident of the house told rescuers he tried to extinguish the flames himself before calling the fire department.
Fire crews reported they could see the flames from more than a mile a way as they traveled to the scene. When firefighters arrived, they found the home fully engulfed in flames.
No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.
There was no information early Thursday about how the fire started.
