IDOT to shut down part of I-55/70 on Friday

The Illinois Department of Transportation plans to shut down part of Interstate 55/70 north of Collinsville for 15 minutes on Friday, the agency said.

Weather permitting, all I-55/70 lanes and the adjacent roads between the Illinois 159 interchange and the U.S. 40 interchange are scheduled to be shut down beginning at 10 a.m., IDOT said.

The temporary closure is scheduled for 15 minutes and will allow Ameren Illinois to install aerial distribution lines crossing over the interstate, IDOT said.

Illinois State Police is scheduled to assist with the road closure. Motorists are asked to be patient and use caution in the work area.
