Rain, cooler temperatures expected Monday in the metro-east

The record high temperatures of last week are history for the metro-east.

The high Monday will reach 53, according to the National Weather Service. That’s 10 degrees warmer than the average high of 43 for this time of year in the St. Louis metropolitan area. But it’s 14 degrees cooler than the high of 67 Sunday which broke the record temperature of 66 for the date which had stood since 1967.

Showers are likely with a 50 percent chance of rain, especially during the morning hours. Winds will be gusty at up to 31 mph.

It will be mostly cloudy Monday night with a low of 39.

On Tuesday it will be mostly sunny with a high of 56 during the day. Overnight, the low will be 47 with mostly cloudy skies and a 40 percent chance of showers late.

There is a 20 percent chance of rain early Wednesday. But skies will begin to clear around noon and the high will reach 57. It will be mostly clear and 33 Wednesday night.

Temperatures will become much cooler later in the week with a high of 43 expected Thursday, 40 forecast for Friday and 38 anticipated Saturday.
