▪  Former metro-east Congressman Jerrry Costello, a Democrat from Belleville, has tripled his pay since he retired three years ago.

According to reports, he made $480,000 in the first nine months of 2015 while lobbying for companies, trade associations and unions.

He made $174,000 a year in Congress.

▪  A man on federal probation for dealing drugs is accused by authorities of manufacturing and selling crack from his Swansea apartment.

Eric S. Wilson, 38, who was charged at least five times previously with drug-related offenses, faces a pair of Class X felony charges for his latest run-in with law enforcement.

▪  A southern Illinois man was killed when his tractor overturned into a pond, trapping him beneath.

David L. Paszkiewicz, 59, of Ashley, was mowing on Sugar Creek Road when the accident happened Friday.

Authorities said they don’t know how long the victim was under water. He was mowing in the afternoon and family went to look for him when he didn’t return when it got dark.
