▪ Police on Monday found a car that was stolen at gunpoint Sunday under odd circumstances.
According to reports, the victim loaded his Dodge Charger with garbage to take down the street to a trash bin. While unloading, a man with a gun emerged to steal the vehicle.
After calling police, the victim left his home and went to neighbors, where officers eventually tracked him down, noting in their report that he smelled strongly of marijuana.
It was the second time the car was reported stolen in the last year.
▪ The District 175 School Board on Monday voted to move on after firing a popular teacher and coach at its last meeting.
The board voted to name a new coach to handle James Watkins’ duties and to pursue hiring a new social studies teacher.
Watkins, who coached girls basketball, was fired Nov. 2 amid claims that he sexually harassed a female co-worker.
