Man arrested in connection with Fairview Heights burglary spree

Fairview Heights police have a man in custody in connection with recent vehicle burglaries.

A statement from the department Wednesday said police first encountered the 27-year-old suspect after responding to a report of a vehicle burglary at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Winchester Place apartment complex. Responding officers found a suspicious man in the area during their investigation whose clothing matched the description of the burglary suspect given by an eyewitness.

The man, whose name was not released, was arrested without incident.

According to police, further investigation revealed the suspect also was responsible for other vehicle burglaries at the complex. Police also learned the suspect matched the description given to police by victims of a reported vehicle burglary and residential burglary in O’Fallon.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
