Triple R’s Smokehouse moves near Scott Air Force Base
A barbecue restaurant has relocated near Scott Air Force Base after opening just five months prior in Mascoutah.
Triple R’s Smokehouse had opened last July at 1414 W. Main St. inside the American Legion hall in Mascoutah. Last week, the eatery relocated to 813 Seibert Road, just outside an entry gate at Scott Air Force Base.
You can still find brisket, pulled pork sandwiches, half and full racks of ribs served along an assortment of sides such as red beans and rice, macaroni and cheese, potato salad and coleslaw on the menu.
From Bow Wow to Lucky Dog
The local dog-sitting franchise of Camp Bow Wow in Swansea has gone independent and has been renamed Lucky Dog Barks and Recreation. You can still find them at 129 Corporate Drive or call them at 618-416-8428.
Happy Holiday shopping
Many big-box retailers have extended their hours as the holiday shopping season has reached its last week. For instance, since 7 a.m. last Thursday, Kohl’s has remained open 24-7 and will not close its doors until 6 p.m. Thursday, Christmas Eve. Target stores are now open from 7 a.m. to midnight through Wednesday, and 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursday. JCPenney at St. Clair Square will open an hour early at 8 a.m. Monday through Wednesday and at 7 a.m. on Thursday.
Founder of Willard’s Tailor Shop dies
Willard M. Payne, longtime owner of Willard’s Tailor Shop and Formal Wear, has died at 70.
The store, located at 926 Lincoln Highway, in Fairview Heights, was opened in 1974.
Payne was born in 1945 in East St. Louis. He died Dec. 16 at his residence in Hamel. Funeral services were Saturday in Belleville.
Payne was also an owner of Champagne and Lace Bridal in Collinsville.
