Alissa Jackson, 32, of Belleville, admitted in St. Clair County Court Thursday that she accepted the donation of a minivan, meals, and cash from supporters who believed she had stage 4 ovarian cancer.

▪ A retired East St. Louis Police Department captain died in a gun accident.

Sherman Jumper, 72, of Swansea, dropped a bag with a small handgun inside. The weapon fired and the bullet hit jumper in the head.
