Business Briefing: Gas prices hover around $2 leading into holidays
Local prices at the pump are remaining at just above and below $2 a gallon days before Christmas.
The latest figures from online gas price tracker GasBuddy.com reveals that St. Louis-area average gas prices have risen 1.9 cents per gallon within the past week to $1.90 a gallon. Metro-east area gas prices ranged from $1.78 to $2.19 a gallon for regular unleaded fuel.

More consumers are using their cellphones than home broadband to save money. The results from the Pew Research Center has found that the number of broadband users recently dropped from 70 percent to 67 percent. Whole Internet users who rely on their cellphones rose by 13 percent. Read more here.

Pep Boys may now sell to billionaire Carl Icahn instead of accepting a previous offer from tire company Bridgestone. Icahn Enterprises has offered $16.50 for each share in a deal worth about $893 million. Bridgestone’s offer is $15.50 per share. Learn more here.
