Temperatures well above normal through Christmas

Skies will be mostly cloudy in the metro-east Tuesday with a high of 50.

That’s 15 degrees cooler than the high temperature of 65 Monday, according to the National Weather Service. But still 15 degrees warmer than the average high for Dec. 22 in the St. Louis metropolitan area, 40.

Monday’s high fell two degrees short of the all-time record for Dec. 21 in St. Louis, 67 set in 1988.

Tuesday night, the low will be 48. Skies will be mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of showers late.

On Wednesday, there is a 90 percent chance of rain with a high of 66. That would smash the record high of 59 set in 1988.

Wednesday night, the low will be 43 with a 40 percent chance of rain and winds of up to 22 mph from the west.

On Christmas eve Thursday, skies will be mostly sunny with a high of 56.

It will be mostly cloudy Thursday night with a low of 37.

Skies will be mostly cloudy Friday for Christmas with a high of 53.

There is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday night will a low of 47.
