Members of the Mount Vernon Township High School girls basketball team were rescued by boat Monday evening after their bus was swept off Illinois 161 by flood water near Mascoutah. No one was injured, and the team members got on another bus and made it to their Mascoutah tournament game on time.

A man and his dog spent the night in a truck after flooding threatened their mobile home in Granite City.
