Daily specials from sun up to sun down are available at a new eatery in Smithton.

The Gathering Restaurant recently opened in town at 101 N. Main St., where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can also find daily specials, such as all-you-can-eat fried chicken on Fridays and a fish fry every Friday.

Mexican eatery may expand in Fairview Heights by this month

The folks from Zapata’s Mexican Restaurant & Cantina in Swansea anticipate opening a new restaurant in Fairview Heights by the end of the month. The restaurant is reoccupying a space at 4660 N. Illinois St. in Winchester Plaza, where a number of eateries have operated.

What’s for lunch, mate?

You can now dine at Outback Steakhouse in Swansea on your lunch hour. The restaurant at 4390 N. Illinois St. now opens every day at 11 a.m.

Metro-east Ys now LiveStrong

The Gateway Region YMCA is introducing a new initiative to help cancer survivors attain physical fitness. The LiveStrong program is a 12-week program new this year at the YMCA in Monroe County and O’Fallon after a successful run at St. Louis. Christian Homes expands to the metro-east

And finally, Creve Coeur, Mo.-based Christian Homes Inc. has purchased BarberVoss Home Care in St. Clair, Monroe and Clinton counties. Christian Homes Inc. is a not-for-profit, faith-based healthcare provider for older adults that will continue to provide in-home supportive services to metro-east area seniors.
