Two seats are up for election on the five-member board of the St. Clair County Soil and Water Conservation District. Nominations are being accepted for people interested in running for a two-year term.
The district, which does not levy any property taxes, helps keep soil out of waterways, among other things. The district is a member of the Association of Illinois Soil and Water Conservation Districts.
To run in the Feb. 25 election, where voting will take place at the conservation district office, people must be at least 18, and live on or own land within the district.
Nominations will be accepted until Feb. 10 at the district’s office at 2031 Mascoutah Ave. in Belleville.
