Dropping temperatures Friday, snow possible Sunday

A streak of unseasonably warm temperatures will come to an end Friday in the metro-east.

The high for the day, 49, was reached before dawn, according to the National Weather Service. The mercury will fall throughout the day, dropping by 5 p.m. to about 37, which is the average high temperature for mid January in the St. Louis area.

Scattered showers are likely before 10 a.m. After that, skies will be mostly cloudy.

They’ll remain mostly cloudy Friday night when the low will drop to 24.

It will be partly sunny Saturday with a high of 33. Skies will become mostly cloudy Saturday night when the low will drop to 17.

There is a 30 percent chance of snow Sunday with a high of 23. It will become mostly clear Sunday night with a low of 5.
