EAST ST. LOUIS: Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church will host a Martin Luther King Day program at noon Monday at 1111 Dr. R.B. Lyles Drive in East St. Louis. The speaker is Mount Pisgah Pastor Vincent D. Collins.
O’FALLON: The 7th annual Metro-East Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast Celebration is from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Monday at New Life in Christ Church, 689 Scott Troy Road in O’Fallon. Shane Bishop, senior pastor of Christ Church in Fairview Heights, will be the featured speaker. Tickets are $10. ALTON: The Alton Branch of the NAACP will hold its 36th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration service at 3 p.m. Sunday at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 2621 Amelia St. in Alton. The theme is “Bonding the Broken in the Face of Injustice.” It will include a procession of clergy, organizational leaders, government officials and residents to show solidarity to King’s dream of unity and peace.
ST. LOUIS: “The Dream is Ours” is the theme of the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ceremony on Monday at the Old Courthouse, 4th and Market Streets in St. Louis. A pre-celebration will begin at 9 a.m. in the courthouse rotunda, with the civic ceremony starting at 10 a.m. A March of Celebration will begin at the courthouse and will continue to Washington Tabernacle Baptist Church, 3200 Washington Ave., where an interfaith ceremony will be held.
