Sledding fun: Children, teens take advantage of snow day

With most metro-east schools closed Wednesday, children and teens took advantage of the 3 inches of snow and hit area hills to enjoy some sledding.

About 3 inches of snow fell on parts of the St. Louis metropolitan area overnight and into Wednesday morning. But, according to the National Weather Service, the accumulation should be over.

About 3 inches of snow fell in the southern part of the region, including Waterloo and Columbia in Monroe County and the Millstadt area in St. Clair County. About 2.5 inches fell further to the north in Fairview Heights and at Scott Air Force Base..
