Wreck that tied up traffic at interstates 55/70 and 255 in Collinsville cleared

A crash that caused serious traffic jams at a major metro-east interstate interchange has been cleared.

A semi rolled over on the ramp from southbound interstate 55/70 onto Interstate 255 at just after 5:30 a.m Tuesday, according to the Illinois State Police.

Tow trucks arrived at the scene and were able to upright the vehicle at about 7 a.m.

Motorists were detoured on to Illinois 157 to get around the blockage which made it tough for folks passing through on the interstate and those trying to commute from the metro-east to St. Louis.

Police have not yet released information about what caused the wreck. No injuries were reported.
