Warmer weather is on the way
A stretch of days with temperatures above normal begins Wednesday for the metro-east.
The high will be 40 under gradually clearing skies, according to the National Weather Service.
That’s two degrees warmer than the average high temperature of 38 for late January in the St. Louis area.
Skies will gradually clear throughout the day.
Wednesday night skies will be partly cloudy with a low of 31.
The high will be 47 Thursday with sunny skies, nine degrees warmer than normal. Overnight it will be partly cloudy with a low of 28.
It will be sunny Friday with a high of 51. Friday night it will be mostly clear with a low of 38, matching what is usually the high temperature for the date.
The weekend features sun and a high of 60 Saturday. A few clouds move in overnight Saturday with a low of 46. The record high for Jan. 30 in the St. Louis area is 67.
On Sunday it will be 60 again with a 20 percent chance of scattered showers. That temperature would break the record for Jan. 31, which is 59 set in 1970.
