A warmup is on the way; near record highs by weekend
A streak of warmer than usual weather arrives in the metro-east Thursday.
The high will reach 49 under sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service. That’s 10 degrees warmer than the average high of 39 for Jan. 28 in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
A few clouds will move into the area Thursday night when the low will drop to 27.
On Friday the high will be 48 under mostly sunny skies during the day, and the low will be 38 with partly cloudy skies overnight.
The high is expected to reach 60 Saturday under mostly sunny skies. It will become mostly cloudy Saturday night with a low of 46, six degrees warmer than that average high for Jan. 30 in St. Louis.
On Sunday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers with a high of 62. That’s three degrees warmer than the all-time high for the date of 59 set in 1970.
