MetroLink to have service disruption Saturday, Sunday
MetroLink has scheduled a service disruption on Saturday and Sunday between the Emerson Park and Fairview Heights MetroLink Stations, Bi-State Development said.
The service disruption is necessary to accommodate the scheduled demolition of the Illinois 157 bridge over MetroLink tracks by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Metro plans to use shuttles to transport passengers between the Emerson Park, Washington Park and Fairview Heights MetroLink stations, Bi-State said. Passengers traveling through the affected area that weekend should expect delays of 20 to 30 minutes.
MetroLink passengers will be able to board westbound Red Line trains at the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center Station, according to Bi-State. Eastbound Red Line riders may exit trains at the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center Station, but won’t be able to to board a shuttle at the station.
To avoid delays and transferring between MetroLink trains and the shuttles, some Illinois riders traveling to Missouri stations may consider parking and boarding the train at the Emerson Park Station, Bi-State said. Illinois MetroLink passengers with destinations east of the Fairview Heights Station may consider parking at the Fairview Heights Station to avoid the MetroLink Station Shuttle delays.
Blue Line MetroLink trains are set to operate on normal weekend schedules, Bi-State said.
MetroLink is scheduled to resume normal operations between the Emerson Park and Fairview Heights Stations by the beginning of service on Monday.
